The Ohio Department of Education announced that 23 of the state's school districts have been named to the Second Annual AP Honor Roll of the College Board, and Kings Local School District was one of the 23 districts named on that list. Eleven of the schools made the list for the second year, according to a release. The districts made the list by increasing student access to college-level Advanced Placement courses, while trying keep or increase the percentage of those students scoring three points or higher on AP course exams. The full list is: Butler County: Lakota Local School District, second year. Kings Superintendent Valerie Browning said she is pleased that Kings received the award. “Our teachers and staff have worked hard to stay competitive over the years. We set a goal to add more AP classes to the Kings High School curriculum and to encourage and prepare more kids to meet the challenge of an AP Course. "We are proud of the work our students, teachers, and staff have accomplished.” Kings High School offers 13 AP courses, 33 honors courses, and 1 class above AP (Multi-Variable Calculus). The 2nd Annual AP Honor Roll is made up of only those public school districts that are simultaneously expanding opportunity and improving their performance.
