The Descendants, the new movie starring George Clooney, hits the theater screaming for an Oscar win. This movie revolves around a father, Matt King (George Clooney), who is forced to reconnect with his daughters, Alexandra (Shailene Woodley) and Scottie (Amara Miller), after his wife gets in a boating accident. While learning more about his kids he discovers secrets buried over time. How can he deal with this occurring while his wife is in the coma? What are supposed to do when you can’t confront your wife with an alleged affair? How can he deal with this? He must figure out a way to deal with his feelings while pretty much recreating a relationship with his daughters. Can he stay calm while Hell is breaking loose? I really have no complaints about this movie. It was very well made. The acting all around was fantastic. George Clooney may have just done his best acting job to date. The kids in the movie were very good also. They brought a realistic punch to the whole situation of having to deal with their mom in a coma and having to reconnect with a dad who was the understudy of the family. The writing was the best of 2011. It brought tears to my eyes and laughter into my throat. I felt like I was becoming bipolar but I think that is what they were going for. This is the very way anyone would feel if they were thrown into this ridiculous situation like this one. This movie was the best of the year and received two Golden Globes: best motion picture and best performance by an actor in a motion picture.

'Arthur Christmas' adds British HumorArthur Christmas is a new Christmas comedy filled with lots of British humor and laughing. Arthur Christmas is about the new way they are handling Christmas. Christmas has become more of an intense operation then a fun spirited event. The elves are more like spies dropping into places and leaving the gifts for the little boys and girls. This becomes an issue when they Arthur (James McAvoy), Santa’s son, finds out that they missed a child’s house. Arthur teams up with his dad (Bill Nighy), the old Santa Clause, to get the present to the child and keep the Christmas spirit alive for this one young girl. Arthur Christmas was, surprisingly, very good. The British humor in the movie had great comic timing and had jokes for the adults and the kids to get. I thought the voice overs were very well down. The voices really made the elves come to life. The animation was well done too. It really brought me back to the old computer animations-back when they were good and had a point. I think that this movie should go down in history as an amazing movie in general-not even just Christmas. I really recommend that you go watch this movie even if the season is done. You will not regret it.
