When snow hits, Kings students take action

Winter winds are rolling in and soon there should be snow coming our way.

High school students involved in the Community Service club, FCA, and the Catalyst Club developed an idea to help people in need during the snow days that are going to be coming up.

With the possibility of snow coming up soon these groups decided that they would do something to help out the community. These students with the help of KHS teachers Tammi Snell, Tim.Guilfoyle, Coach Andy Olds, and Rob Robison decided that they were going to do nice deeds for people who may need help when the snowy conditions get bad. The students are planning on shoveling driveways, and delivering “nice things” to elderly people and single mothers who may need help.

“Nice things” includes as hot chocolate, cookies, and soup. Other ideas will develop once teh students see how the first day goes. That is, if it ever snows. They’re calling this day the "1st Annual Kings High School Service Snow Day."

After the students finish with their deed, they will leave the home owner with a post card, pictured above. The card says the name of the school and announces the 1st Annual Kings High School Service Snow Day.

The back of the card has a spot for the students to put their names and the act they performed. Then there is a space for the community member to comment. The card's postage is a pre-paid, and addressed directly back to the high school. This allows Mr. Mader to see what the students have done and allows the student to see how their act was appreciated.

Snell said a special thanks goes to Robison, the KHS Business Academy teacher, for purchasing the post cards.

If you are interested in being a part of the 1st Annual Kings High School Service Snow Day see Snell or any of the members of the Community Service club, FCA, and Catalyst club. All help is greatly appreciated.
